This is a collection of short stories written in recent years by Jefferson Banks.
A graduate of College of Charleston, Banks was described as a "troublemaker" by his professors. At some point in his life, he wanted to be an astronaut, an archaeologist, and a rockstar. Obviously this was too much for one person, so instead Banks chose the next best thing to living these lives. He chose to write the stories.
His work has been published in the College of Charleston student arts journal and has been featured in the Gallery of Writing, an on-line writer’s resource. The stories tiptoe between lighthearted comedy (Asbury Farms) and grim conflict (Confederate Cigarettes).
Banks creates the characters and lets them tell their own story. He paints the scenery and lets the scene play out. He gives them a stage. Their dialogue creates their voice.
His literary basis is dedicated to the idea that the best comedy comes from tragedy, and the best stories come from living. Facts have no place here, but Banks strives to write the truth on every page.
